Overview

This repo contains our protoc plugin. Microglot is based on gRPC so virtually all of the existing gRPC code generation for Go is sufficient. The one change this plugin adds is the export of each service's gRPC descriptor which enables us to implement more flexible forms of gRPC service registration beyond the Register*Server methods that come with gRPC code rendering. Exporting this value appears to be planned for the main gRPC plugin but is not yet available.

Developing

Make targets

This project includes a Makefile that makes it easier to develop on the project. The following are the included targets:

• test

  Run all of the project unit tests.

• coverage

  Generate a code coverage report from the last test run.

• fmt

  Format all Go code in the repository.

• generate

  Execute any code generation steps included in the repository.

• clean

  Remove any files created by the Makefile.
