gRPC Configuration Settings

gRPC exposes a variety of settings. Several of these settings are available for configuration within individual receivers or exporters. In general, none of these settings should need to be adjusted.

Client Configuration

Exporters leverage client configuration.

Note that client configuration supports TLS configuration, however configuration parameters are not defined under tls_settings like server configuration. For more information, see configtls README.

  • balancer_name
  • compression (default = gzip): Compression type to use (only gzip is supported today)
  • endpoint: Valid value syntax available here
  • headers: name/value pairs added to the request
  • keepalive
    • permit_without_stream
    • time
    • timeout
  • read_buffer_size
  • write_buffer_size
  • per_rpc_auth: the credentials to send for every RPC. Note that this isn't about sending the headers only during the initial connection as an authorization header under the headers would do: this is sent for every RPC performed during an established connection.
    • auth_type: the authentication type, currently only bearer is supported
    • bearer_token: the bearer token to use for each RPC call.

Server Configuration

Receivers leverage server configuration.

                                  RequireTransportSecurity always returns true for this implementation. Passing bearer tokens in plain-text connections is a bad idea.
