LFX V2 Committee Service
This repository contains the source code for the LFX v2 platform committee service.
Overview
The LFX v2 Committee Service is a RESTful API service that manages committees and their members within the Linux Foundation's LFX platform. It provides endpoints for creating, reading, updating, and deleting committees and committee members with built-in authorization and audit capabilities. Committees are associated with projects and can have hierarchical structures with parent-child relationships.

Releases
Creating a Release
To create a new release of the committee service:

Update the chart version in charts/lfx-v2-committee-service/Chart.yaml prior to any project releases, or if any
change is made to the chart manifests or configuration:
version: 0.2.0 # Increment this version

After the pull request is merged, create a GitHub release and choose the
option for GitHub to also tag the repository. The tag must follow the format
v{version} (e.g., v0.2.0). This tag does not have to match the chart
version: it is the version for the project release, which will dynamically
update the appVersion in the released chart.

The GitHub Actions workflow will automatically:
- Gate the release on the weekly-brief live LLM eval — see Release gate below
- Build and publish the container images (committee-api and committee-cli)
- Package and publish the Helm chart to GitHub Pages
- Publish the chart to GitHub Container Registry (GHCR)
- Sign the chart with Cosign
- Generate SLSA provenance
Release gate: weekly-brief live LLM eval
Every v* tag push runs the working-group weekly-brief live LLM eval suite
as a hard gate before any images, Helm charts, SBOMs, or cosign signatures
are published. The wiring lives in
.github/workflows/ko-build-tag.yaml,
which invokes the reusable
.github/workflows/weekly-brief-eval-live.yml
as a needs: dependency of the publish job. A failing eval aborts the
release.
Configuration in CI is not via GitHub repository secrets:
LITELLM_BASE_URL and LITELLM_MODEL are pinned in the workflow's
env: block. To change the endpoint or model, edit
.github/workflows/weekly-brief-eval-live.yml
and merge the change — defaults are
https://litellm.dev.v2.cluster.linuxfound.info and claude-sonnet-4-6.
LITELLM_API_KEY is fetched from AWS Secrets Manager at
/cloudops/managed-secrets/litellm/lfx-one-cicd, via the OIDC role
arn:aws:iam::450177423209:role/lfx-v2-github-actions. To rotate the
key, update the AWS Secrets Manager entry — no workflow change required.
ko-build-tag.yaml grants the calling eval-live job
permissions: id-token: write so the called workflow's OIDC token
exchange with AWS can succeed; a reusable workflow cannot elevate
permissions beyond what its caller grants.
Missing credentials fail the workflow loudly rather than silently skipping
(the live test calls t.Fatalf under -tags=live). To validate against a
specific endpoint before cutting a release, run the workflow on demand via
Actions → Weekly-Brief Live Eval → Run workflow.
Important Notes
- The
appVersion in Chart.yaml should always remain "latest" in the committed code.
- During the release process, the
ko-build-tag.yaml workflow automatically overrides the appVersion with the actual tag version (e.g., v0.2.0 becomes 0.2.0).
- Only update the chart
version field when making releases - this represents the Helm chart version.
- The container image tags are automatically managed by the consolidated CI/CD pipeline using the git tag.
- Both container images (committee-api) and the Helm chart are published together in a single workflow.
Development
To contribute to this repository:
- Fork the repository
- Commit your changes to a feature branch in your fork. Ensure your commits
are signed with the Developer Certificate of Origin
(DCO).
You can use the
git commit -s command to sign your commits.
- Ensure the chart version in
charts/lfx-v2-committee-service/Chart.yaml has been
updated following semantic version conventions if you are making changes to the chart.
